UTV hopes 'Kismat' is fourth time lucky. |

NEW DELHI - UTV is giving a 900-plus screen launch to its "Kismat Konnection" this weekend.
Pic, a romantic comedy starring Kapoor & Vidya Balan, is a Tips Film production directed by Aziz Mirza.
After a premiere in Dubai on Wednesday, pic will be rolled out on 720 prints in India and 200 overseas. That includes a simultaneous release in Pakistan and a 64 print outing in the U.S.
It plays out against Ram Gopal Verma-helmed gangsters and undercover cops movie "Contract," which is opening on 250 screens in India. Pic is a co-venture between PVR Pictures and Ace Movie Company and is one of multiplex operator PVR's biggest outings to date as producer and distributor. Pic stars Adhvik Mahajan alongside newcomers Prakash Purandare and Sakshi Gulati.
Both openers will have to contend with strong hold-overs for PVR's "Jaane Tu - Ya Jaane Na," which collected Rupees 205 million ($4.77 million) from India and $440,000 in North America. |
